A journey by bicycle along the Kennet and Avon Canal in the United Kingdom, from Bath to Avoncliff. The canal, part of an inland waterway between Bristol and London, was opened in 1810, for the transportation of heavy goods such as stone and coal. However, business was seriously affected by the advent of steam railways and it slowly fell into disuse until it was the subject of a heroic restoration programme in the second half of the twentieth century. Today it is looked after by The Canal and River Trust and is used for quite a wide range of leisure activities. These include cycling, although this should always be conducted in a manner which does not impact adversely on other canal users. From this point of view it is important to note that footage like this taken on a chest-mounted wide angle camera gives the impression that the bicycle was travelling much faster than it actually was.
