In Tainan, many famous joints have already shuttered up, and the few that remain are relying on dwindling stock. Tourists visiting the food capital of Taiwan say they are disappointed to not have the chance to try the city’s famous eats. A ladle of minced pork and a whole prawn goes right in the rice batter to create a classic Tainan bite. But these ba-wan from Mao Xiong Shrimp Meatball could soon sell out due to African swine fever. Glutinous rice cake specialist Shijingjiu Dim Sum City serves up dishes with a generous scoop of braised pork and lots of fish floss.
