Suicide Prevention Services (SPS) receives around 10,000 crisis calls each month—many from young men dealing with academic pressure, bullying, and struggles with self-worth. Unfortunately, stigma surrounding mental health often means many people suffer in silence. In response, businessman and philanthropist William Louey, through the William SD Louey Educational Foundation, has teamed up with SPS to launch a mental health campaign focused on young men aged 15 to 25. Michael’s advocacy stems from personal experience—having survived brain cancer as a child, he faced learning disabilities, bullying, and academic struggles. His journey of resilience led him to establish Companion HK in 2020, providing mental health resources, peer support, and awareness programs to young people across Hong Kong. His initiatives, such as the "Human Library" project, aim to foster understanding and reduce stigma around mental health. Michael has been recognized with the Hong Kong Humanity Youth Power Award and named a Gen.T Leader of Tomorrow by Tatler Asia.
