A sombre mood engulfed kasisit village,Baringo North during the burial of four family members who perished in a land slide that buried them alive following heavy downpour which continue to be experienced in parts of Tugen hills. The pain of loosing family members could be expressed in the faces of mourners Zakayo Ruto,The father who lost his family,Wife and three children came into terms with the horrific incident was at pain not knowing where to begin having been left with nothing. Gladys Chepkangor 38,Hillary Chebon 21 years,Jonathan katamei 18 years,Evans katamei 12 years perished on 6 August this month after heavy downpour which also displaced 35 families which are now camping at kasisit primary school Leaders led By Baringo North member of Parliament Joseph Makilap said the heavy rains experienced in Tugen hills is heavy and poses a danger in those living along the stretch,he further said is to implore the kfs act that requires exchange of forest land to the people living in the hilly areas to avert further calamities in future On his part saimo Kipseraman mca John Aengwo expressed the concerns of 35 families who are camping at kasisit primary school by the fact the school will be reopening and they have no alternative place to settle in. Baringo county commissioner Stephen kutwa has called for residents in the low lands to exercise caution citing flash floods being experienced in the area Elswhere Traffic snurl up was experienced along Marigat-Chemolingot following heavy rains this evening . The rains which made the road impassable this is after Endao river burst it banks forcing hundreds of passengers including tourists ,Baringo Governor Spouse Dr.Emmy Cheboi stranded for hours. A driver who was carrying building materials survived being swept away by the raging waters after driving through the water ;luckily he was saved after getting stuck in the middle of the river. Kabarnet -Tenges road was also blocked following heavy mudslides which happened at Timboiywo ,Baringo central.
