From CannLabs’ start in a mere 500 square feet, they have now grown into state-of-the-art, 3500 square foot laboratory. In vivid scientific detail, Heather explains how each sample is meticulously cataloged on its way through the lab, and takes us through some of the equipment and testing techniques employed by the scientists therein. The work at CannLabs takes a big picture approach - they are testing for things before the state even requires them, and they proactively search for types of analysis that could be beneficial to medical research or cultivation. Enjoy! “One of the other pieces of equipment that we have… is a flash chromatography system… this system is what we are doing some development work on to help start isolating some of these cannabinoids so we can start to study them more efficiently” “We’re studying the response in the body of terpenes mixed with cannabinoids, and at what ratios, because the more clinical trials that people can do on this, will really help legitimize cannabis as a medicine, and as whole-plant medicine” “By studying what’s being delivered to the plant, and what it’s up-taking, we can help growers develop a streamlined growing process to increase yields based off of the nutrients that they’re making available to the plants.” “When I first started at CannLabs we were operating our laboratory out of about 500 square feet… Since then we’ve built out this fantastic 3500 square foot space down here, we’ve outfitted with all the equipment that we need.”
