To help get into the holiday spirit, we decided to drive Christmas Tree Pass Road, which cuts through the Newberry Mountains of Southern Nevada as it travels through Avi Kwa Ame National Monument and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. While the road is only seventeen miles in length, there are a number of great things to see along the way. We started the drive south of Searchlight off Highway 95 and drove towards Laughlin. Soon after climbing into the mountains, in keeping with the road's name, we came across trees decorated for Christmas. The drive then begins to have fantastic views of Spirit Mountain (known to Native Americans of the area as Avi Kwa Ame), where a number of tribes of the southwest believe all life was created. Along the drive we continue to be treated with fantastic views as we descend the mountains and stop by Grapevine Canyon, home to one of the largest collections of petroglyphs in the Southwest, with some of the rock art dating back to AD 1100. Finally, we end the drive at Nevada 163, a few miles outside of the town of Laughlin. ○ Gear we use: https://www.amazon.com/shop/sidetrack... ►Join us on Patreon: / sidetrackadventures ►Please subscribe for weekly updates showcasing some of our adventures: / @sidetrackadventures ►Also please follow Sidetrack Adventures on Instagram: / sidetrackadventures ►Music in this video is from Epidemic Sounds; use our link for a free trial: https://share.epidemicsound.com/v927fj
