For more information about what I'm doing, turn on subtitles or check the description. In this video I'm building slide-out storage drawers for my overlanding Cayenne Turbo. Whenever I went overlanding with my Jeep, I used simple wooden crates, but for this vehicle, I wanted something a bit more sturdy and permanent, with better organization. This is made out of 18mm plywood and some 250lb rated 28 inch locking rails off Amazon. The basic dimensions are 112cm wide x 80cm deep by 27.6cm high. If I were to build these again, I would make it 108 or 110cm wide and 78cm deep, just for better access to the side storage areas and the 12v outlets. The cuts of wood to build this like shown are: 2 112cm x 80cm - base and top of the cabinet 1 108.4cm x 24cm - rear of cabinet 2 80cm x 24cm - sides of cabinet 2 76.4 x 24cm - middle supports of cabinet 4 22cm x 76cm - sides of drawers 4 22cm x 45cm - front and rears of drawers 2 72.4cm x 45cm - drawer bottoms 2 24cm x 54.2cm - front drawer fascias (trim to suit carpeting) Chapters: 00:00 Getting the measurements 01:07 Wisteria blooming 01:17 Unloading the wood 02:29 Organizing and trying to remember my design. 04:24 Building the fist drawer 09:00 Marking the hatch attachment points on the base 10:10 Building the second drawer 14:37 Building cabinet 18:43 Realizing I screwed up 18:53 Attaching rails 19:45 Attaching top 20:38 Testing drawers 21:49 Sanding 22:45 Painting drawers 23:37 Cutting down the edges 25:25 Painting the cabinet 26:21 Drawers installed in hatch 27:14 Cutting down the front fascias 32:34 Installing front fascias on drawers 33:00 Carpeting the drawer fronts 38:00 Carpeting drawer interiors 40:07 Creating simple work surface for drawer top
