In this video I review the Tesla (or vertical) style android based radio unit for the Lexus GX 470 / Toyota Prado, 2003 to 2009. Similar units are available for other cars like Ford, Chevy, Toyota. NOTE: there is an updated unit out now - the PX6, a 6 core, 4 gb RAM unit and they should include Apple CarPlay or android auto without a dongle (via the Zlink app). Mine in this review is a 4 core, 2 GB unit. I recommend the PX6 AND I recommend going with Phoenix for US customers as there is ZERO support buying with the Chinese resellers on Aliexpress or Alibiba, not to mention I have been subject to fraud with a purchase on Alibaba. With the 10% code via the link above, it is also about the same price 1 year later for the new PX6 as what I paid in 2019, and Phoenix does actually respond to support requests based on my experience. I know others have had spotty experience with them, but I can tell you for a fact you will get ZERO support if you buy direct from Aliexpress/Alibaba, and then if you have to send it back, it is a hassle/costs... I also want to give a shoutout to Sergey - he has a private facebook group and sells a custom firmware for $100. Highly recommended to do this as it makes the device less buggy with an updated OS, adds multiple themes you can select without having to read Chinese or go into the secret menu, has over the air updates now and just makes it work and look better without the AOL-like icons from 1995. I swapped out my unit reviewed here for a PX6 so I will work to make a new video soon. In my case, a 17 year old car! It as a few issues, but in general, for about $600 I added Internet, Apple CarPlay (or Android Auto), Bluetooth calling and music streaming, back up camera, TPMS tire monitoring, Waze/Google/Apple Maps and really any other app from the android store. You can see I customized it as well with a cool skin from Car Launcher and with Sergey's firmware you can pick from other 20 different themes. You can also download Carwebguru. I bought direct from China via Aliexpress and it HAS NOT been a good experience. The unit works but I had lots of questions and they provided ZERO support. Maybe another reseller would be better. Mine was a reseller called ZWNAV so avoid them at all costs, and with the referral discount the price is actually about the same for that new unit now as what I paid for the original unit in 2019... Some of my menu items are in Chinese and zero customer service...so go with someone you can actually call or email and get a good answer. Here are some of the other items in the video. Plug it in for more or less instant connection. The app and device also do get regular updates to make it better. Right now, it works pretty good. Now if you want to just skip this and go for the real technology upgrade, get a Tesla! I highly recommend the Model 3 which already has a lot of these great tech features (minus the Apple Carplay).
