And due to my persistent desire to add more to my plate, this ones not JUST a life-size prop, it’s also a diorama with a “real” hologram projector that doubles as a night light for my son’s bedroom! – That’s right, this little droid has got a functional projection lens that projects a planet onto any surface, along with a blinking LED light panel, and a voice box for that extra touch of realism! In this video, I'll walk you through my process for deciding which of BD-1's intricate parts should be 3D printed with a filament printer versus a resin printer, and how to ensure they're sanded and filled for a professional finish. I’ll then move on to painting and weathering, where I'll share my tips for achieving that authentic grimy Star Wars aesthetic.
