With the 4x4 chassis, the TGM offers vehicles suitable for off-road deployment with classic all-wheel drive for operations requiring high levels of traction. Vehicles for construction sites, municipal road and winter road services, fire brigade and other off-road deployment can be customised on the basis of this 4x4 chassis. Depending on type of deployment, all-wheel drive is available either as intermittent or permanent option. The differential locks are engaged pneumatically. Depending on the transfer case design, the driver can choose between on-road and off-road gear. A rotary switch is used to activate the transfer transmission and engage the interlocks which ensures that the right sequence is always followed. The electronic transfer gearbox management system even disengages the interlocks if the driving situation does not call for it anymore or if the thread of damage may exist. This eliminates the possibility of driver error. The hill-climbing brake makes pulling away on steep slopes easy. During this time when the foot moves from brake pedal to accelerator, a toggle switch may be used to maintain the brake pressure and prevent the vehicle from rolling back.
