Portland record store helped launch a vinyl renaissance | Record Store Day | Oregon Experience

An iconic Portland record store played a crucial role in reviving the sale of vinyl -- through Record Store Day. Terry Currier owns and operates Music Millennium in North East Portland. Currier says that in 1995, he started the Coalition of Independent music stores to promote locally-owned record stores. In 2007, the organization joined two other coalitions to form Record Store Day. The idea was not only to boost the lagging record industry but also to celebrate the culture of independent stores. Record Store Day happens one Saturday every April.
