Question those who don’t question authority. Rising sophomore Liz Treat explains the importance of questioning those in power using civil disobedience, specifically in academic settings. She provides historical examples, personal experiences, and breaks down how to advocate for oneself with respect and bravery. Elizabeth Treat, a rising sophomore at Toledo Early College High School, is a confident leader, both in and out of an academic setting. This can be seen in her volunteer work as a counselor-in-training for the local Metroparks and in her achievement of becoming a finalist in her schools' Poetry Out Loud competition. Looking to her future, Elizabeth is looking to find a career in logistics in which she can expand her leadership, strategy, and planning skills. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
