Our world is increasingly reliant on intelligent machines that can vastly outperform humans in terms of speed, strength, precision, and so on. However, their limited ability to perceive the world around them can put us in danger. In this talk, Sebastian Bauer discusses new technologies that enable autonomous and robotic systems to operate more safely and efficiently by “seeing around corners” in real time. Sebastian is the CEO of Ubicept which provides new imaging solutions in challenging environments such as seeing motion in the dark at unprecedented quality. He has spent his career exploring new kinds of imaging with a focus on signal processing and information extraction. He holds BS/MS/PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany.
