Link to Part 2: PENDING! Thanks for your patience :) DIY worm composting is very popular, and I made these mini vermicomposters to see if it could be accessible to almost anyone. Even if you don't have outdoor space, you can successfully make compost at home. All you need is some worms, some 'bedding', and an understanding of what worms need - dark, moisture, air, and food. I took that formula and tried it out on no fewer than 12 mini composters this year, looking for what worked and what didn't. The good news is that everything worked to some extent, but the easiest and best container had easy passageways for the worms, drainage for excess moisture, and small air holes (to prevent worms from escaping and also minimize the threat of fruit flies! Although a simple paper cover will also deter and stop most fruit flies). This video is the intro on what you need for a vermicomposter to success.
