The 2019 Jeep Renegade receives the first significant round of updates since this popular subcompact SUV model was introduced several years ago. The basic look remains the same, but several subtle tweaks have been made that are frankly difficult to notice unless you're looking at the old and new Renegade back-to-back. More notable is the new turbocharged engine that we detail in this video. Available on the Trailhawk and the Limited trim levels as an optional upgrade, this 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engineproduces 177 horsepower and a stout 200 lb-ft of torque. A 9-speed automatic is standard along with an automatic stop/start system to save fuel. The base engine is now the old upgrade engine, a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder good for 180 hp and 175 lb-ft. That sounds like a lot, but it doesn't feel as muscular as its numbers would suggest. There are still four 2019 Renegade trim levels available: Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk and Limited. Notable new features include adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors, an automated parking system and full LED exterior lighting.
