According to “Ganghwabuji” and “Jeondeungsa Bonmalsaji” a monk named ‘Cheonchukjosa’ flew lotus flowers which are in 5 colors each in the 4th year of King Jangsu reign during Goryeo Era and built Buddhist temples wherever those lotus flowers fell. Jeokseoksa temple was the place where red lotus flower fell and it was named ‘Jeokryeonsa’ right after completing the temple and later it was called ‘Jeokseoksa’.
