Week long roadtrip vacation while my son and wife were visiting me in Oregon. Drove from Salem to Smith Rock and spent the day climbing and hiking the 4+ mile trail. Spent the night in Prineville Best Western. The following day we visited the Painted Hills and the dumpy little town of Mitchell (where we waited a half hour for service at Tiger Town Brewing restaurant and nobody served us - but they did serve locals who were seated after us). Another night in Prineville and explored town a little - seems to be a pretty nice town. We started heading back towards Salem where we would spend the night at my apartment, stopping for a visit in Sisters along the way. After a night at home, we drove west through the Pacific coastal mountains to Lincoln City, where we spent the night in the beachfront hotel, West Beach Suites (a favorite for Vilija and me). The next day we drove south down highway 101, enjoying the oceanside coastal mountain views. We visited the cute town of Florence before heading home on the backroads through the mountains.
