As the 100th Editor in Chief of The Commentator, one of YU's student newspapers, Sruli knows the power of storytelling. Sruli always craved meaning in his life, but when he first arrived to college, he worried that his eventual career would feel empty and monotonous. In this passionate talk, Sruli shows how writing a better story for ourselves can unlock a life of meaning, excitement, and purpose. He demonstrates how, when applied to our jobs, it can even make our work meaningful. Currently the 100th Editor in Chief of The Commentator, one of Yeshiva University’s independent student newspapers, Sruli Fruchter has written and edited hundreds of articles from his three years on staff. His reporting covered a wide variety of campus news — from university lawsuits to academic developments. Sruli was previously a Ronald S. Lauder Fellow for the World Jewish Congress and interned for its International Relations Department. He was one of two fellows selected to represent the organization at the United Nation’s 2021 ECOSOC Youth Forum. He co-founded and led several successful initiatives on campus, including the Jewish Forum for Dialogue and the Special Committee for Uighur Activism. Sruli is graduating with a bachelor’s in International & Global Affairs, and he is beginning rabbinical school in the fall and law school in the coming years. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
