"Beer & Ludes" is a song by The Lovedolls from the soundtrack to the film 'Lovedolls Superstar' released in 1986 on SST Records. Written by Jeff McDonald, his band Redd Kross provides the musical accompaniment to the song (alongside 'Lovedolls' actress Jennifer Schwartz on lead vocals). Directed by former Sin 34 drummer Dave Markey, 'Lovedolls Superstar' was the sequel to his film 'Desperate Teenage Lovedolls' which had become somewhat of a cult-classic after it's original release in 1984. For the sequel, most of the original cast members return (including members of Redd Kross including Jeff & Steve McDonald, as well as former drummer Janet Housden and guitarist Tracy Lea) and with a slight budget increase the quality of the cinematography and narrative structure greatly benefits the film. Besides contributing the title track, Redd Kross appears in other roles on the soundtrack including backing up the fictitional 'Lovedolls' band on the aformentioned track "Beer & Ludes" as well as "Rex Smith (I Wanna Be A Cholo Chick)" (of which Jeff McDonald also wrote) and a cover of The Brady Bunch's "Sunshine Day".
