3 Molds 3 Ways - Pouring Resin Part 2

In this video we cut the silicone molds open and build the cradles that hold the molds in the proper position for casting. Each mold presents a unique challenge for the mold maker. The first mold is the simplest. It is a 1-piece cut mold on a part with 2 holes. The trick here is to extend the height of the cup by glueing two cups together. The second mold is a 2-part mold with a flat parting line. The complexity in this mold are the internal threads where it is easy to trap bubbles. The third mold is by far the most complex. It has an internal clayed-up parting line and two cut parting lines that run at 90 degrees across the part. Several vents release air from numerous high spots on the model.
