On this one occasion shaping maestro Matt Biolos can put it better than us. The RETRO TRIPPER is inspired by the desire for a short and wide, with plenty of glide, fish alternative, for surfing punchy and powerful waves with confidence and control. It's wide (Beaked) nose, winged pin tail, mellow retro-rocker, flat deck and steep downward rails, combined with Twin+1 fin set-up, excels in good waves, powerful waves, hollow waves, fast waves and big waves, but is still wide and skatey enough for everyday fun. The Retro Tripper is derived from the Lost Retro Ripper, but its thicker, wider, with a lower entry rocker wide point forward. Thus, the Retro Tripper is a wave catching machine in both critical waves and your every day-to-day conditions. Combine this with down rails curvy tail rocker with a wing that reduces tail area, under the back foot, and you get a forgiving and precise ride than negates the significant volume and allows nimble surfing and high speed turns critical sections. You could chuck your favourite thruster set into Tripper - but everything about the board from the fin positioning to wing is designed to be surfed as a Twin+1 setup. This model with Futures Fins gives you a massive variety of fins ranging from our favourite Mayhem Evil Twin 2 + 1 Fins to the Futures Alpha T1 Twin + Trailer. You are going to surf with all the speed and freedom of a twin fin with added stability and control from the back fin i.e., your average Joe (you and I) are going to feel like we are surfing like a pro! Who is this board for I hear you ask. Well, anyone who has become addicted to the speed and freedom of twin fin surfing and wants to take this feeling, with a touch more stability, into more solid or critical conditions. Or if you want a lightning-fast hybrid surfboard that will do anything (apart from the smallest days) for a trip or just at home then this is for you. I'm putting my money where my mouth is and heading off to Portugal for 2 weeks just with the Retro Tripper (and the family but I have to take them really).
