Kulkuls or Kidiyo are a part of traditional Christmas Kuswar recipes which is served on the Christmas goodies platter in every household during the Christmas season. Kidiyo can be eaten plain or with a sugar coating/glaze. It can be made with or without eggs. If you want it a little crunchy then you can add semolina. I have made it using rice powder instead of semolina for the crunch in every bite. Do try out the recipe and enjoy. Ingredients : All purpose flour (Maida) - 2 cups Rice powder - 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar - 2 tbsp hot unsalted melted butter or ghee or oil - 2 tbsp salt - 1/2 tsp Knead to make a soft pliable dough, cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 mins Make Kulkuls with a fork or unused new comb put them on a greased plate. Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan then drop the kukuls and fry till golden To make sugar syrup Sugar - 100 grams water - 1/4 cup Let it boil till sugar melts and comes to a one string consistency. Pour hot syrup on the kulkuls. when kulkuls cool down completely store them in an air tight container.
