Hey everyone, Have you heard of JUUL. If you are a smoker I am pretty sure you have heard of it but do you know who founded it. Let me tell you about The founder of JUUL Adam Bowen and James Monsees. They were born in 1970, They both did BA in Physics. Adam went to Pomona college and James went to Kenyon College. Then In 2002-2003 They both enrolled in Stanford to learn Product design and that’s how they met. They were both smokers were aware of the health risks associated with traditional smoking. So one day they decided to create something which is less harmful and started to investigate concept of vaporization as a cleaner method to deliver nicotine or other substance while enrolled in Stanford. So after graduating from Stanford in 2005 around age 30, They started a company called Pax Labs. Which developed a vaporizing Device that heated tobacco or other plant material to release its active ingredients without combustion, thereby reducing the harmful byproducts associated with burning. At the time it was mainly used for mariujana, they kept working on Pax and kept improving it. In 2017, around age 45 they decided to create a separate company JUUL, focusing on e-ciggrates which uses the same vaporizing technology. In 2018, Altria took 35% stake in JUUL at 38 Billion dollar which made Adam and James billionaire. In 2019 JUUL was worth around 38 Billion dollar and due to legal, regulatory and health issue by 2022 it was only worth 450 million.
