Triceps Deep Tendon Reflex Examination | Nursing Head to Toe Assessment

Nursing head to toe assessment includes the deep tendon reflex examination of the triceps tendon (C7 to C8) with a reflex hammer. This nursing skills video will show you how to properly elicit a response in the triceps tendon by finding the tendon on the back on the upper arm, located below the triceps muscle just above the elbow. To find the triceps tendon, it is best to have the patient extend the elbow which will make the triceps deep tendon more prominent.
