German Cable Knife Comparison: Gedore, Hazet, NWS, Knipex, and Stahlwille!

#GermanTools #Knife #EDC In this video we showcase cable knives from popular German tool brands: Gedore, Hazet, NWS, Knipex, and Stahlwille. We cover their part numbers, pricing, aesthetics, lengths, weights, anticipated pros and cons, and then outline our planned test. This all stemmed from simply wanting a "good" everyday carry knife that offered a sharp blade and was comfortable to hold in a slim and lightweight form factor. Our testing phase will see what we like and put the blades to the test to see which ones maintain their edge. I had recorded this earlier in the week and the first part was corrupted during the file transfer. I figured the mandatory re-do would have resulted in a quicker video, but we managed to go a good 15 minutes longer. My apologies on that...I don't get much free time and when I make time to do something and then lose progress to technicalities it really sets me back. On the bright side I can assure you that we have a solid 4-5 KC Tool Hauls that just need to be filmed along with some reviews. Lots of cool stuff on the way! Updates: Initially I can say that I like the Stahlwille's aesthetics the best. The Stahlwille, Knipex, and Hazet are the easiest to open. We can also deduce that the Stahlwille and Knipex likely originate from the same manufacturer in Solingen. The Gedore and NWS are also eerily similar, but the report from Gedore confirmed 100% their offering is from Italy. The NWS listing might be wrong, but to virtually anyone outside of a lab these knives are essentially the same thing. The good news is I started the test with the Gedore and the blade has performed fantastic thus far. I recorded this video Thursday night and after a lot of delays at work finally got in on stocking some items that came in Wednesday. There is a lot of heavy stretch wrap and the Gedore knife cut it like butter! I plan to carry the test out with each knife getting roughly 1 week at work. If there wasn't much usage, I'll extend it. I should get a good feel for how I like living with each one on a daily basis and any performance issues, or complaints should arise pretty quick.
