In this 16-minute video Matt Hogan has a chat with 3 members of the mechanical ventilation education team. The topic is pressure controlled ventilation. "PRVC" IS a pressure controlled mode of ventilation. On the Hamilton T1 at STARS the PRVC mode is referred to as (S)CMV+. The fact that PRVC is a pressure controlled mode of ventilation is an important concept to grasp. In most cases when you are asked to ventilate a patient in a pressure controlled mode of ventilation PRVC will be just fine. A better descriptor for "PRVC" is "pressure targeted volume controlled". This video explains why. This video also includes 2 specific scenarios when you may choose to use PCV+ on the Hamilton T1. Finally, when using PCV+ it is important to note that the Pcontrol you set is added to the PEEP. The Ppeak delivered will be the sum of Pcontrol and PEEP. This concept is also thoroughly explained. This video is a must watch for pre-hospital users of the Hamilton T1.
