Welcome to our channel NKC Insight Every Year June 17 during Global Garbage Man Day, the world takes time to recognize the dedication efforts of the men and women who keep our communities clean. The Day has been initiated by John D. Arwood, since 2011, which involves in environmental services like promoting and teaching about recycling, Advanced Disposal methods, Waste Management etc. The role of waste management goes far beyond garbage collection. In fact, waste management provides a variety of services and programs designed to protect and reduce the impact we have on our environment. Around, 250 tons of municipal wastes that include commercial, household, industrial wastes are produced every year in the United States. The United States ranks top in producing trash. An American produces 7 pounds of waste everyday averagely; they have produces almost 30 percent of the World’s waste. Almost more than 50 percent of the products were used only once by the American and then thrown as waste. 50% of the plastic were thrown and never been recycled. Garbage men are not only responsible for collecting trash but also for sorting the recycling items. As per 2010 reports, around 139,900 were employed as Garbage Collectors in the United States in which almost 0.033 percent were brutally injured every year. About 99% of U.S. garbage collectors are men, but that still means that more than 1,000 women are out there hauling trash. Trash collecting routinely shows up on lists of the most dangerous jobs, with roughly 30 fatalities per 100,000 workers annually, averages nearly 60 deaths. They pick up garbage each day in rain, snow, sleet, and the summer heat. Most garbage collectors work during early morning hours, and occasionally need to interact with the public. The waste around the city, and thereby causing high rates of cancer, allergies, and birth defects. Surat city was suffering from unhygienic conditions, where a pneumonic plague epidemic broke out in 1994, causing 52 deaths. Rotting garbage produces harmful gases which people could breathe in. If not managed properly, waste can contaminate water sources as well, and can be a source of serious diseases like cholera and dysentery. Proper waste management takes care of all of these problems and ensures that waste is not exposed to the air and water sources that can be contaminated. The harmful gases and chemicals in garbage can contaminate its immediate environment and spread even further. This could easily cause plants and trees to deteriorate and die. These gases can spread to the natural habitats of animals, they might be driven off or contract illnesses and die due to the pollution. Currently, birds and marine animals frequently ingest waste products, like plastic, which suffocate them or ingest them, causing organ damage or deadly illnesses since their bodies would not be able to break down the material Recycling would also keep non-biodegradable products from harming the environment and the lives that thrive there.
