Preamp tube comparison. Does the gain factor on preamp tubes impact guitar tone?

Part I: In this episode I'm testing the effect of 4 different value preamp tubes for position one (V1) in my 5E3 circuit Grand Tweed Deluxe tube amp. The preamp tubes are ECC83/12AX7 (gain factor 100), ECC81/12AT7 (gain factor 60), 6072/12AY7 (gain factor 40) and ECC82/12AU7 (gain factor 19). The gain factor has an impact on how the amp will respond. The 12AX7/ECC83 tube in V2 is a Vintage (50s) Philips Miniwatt. Playing the amp with a single coil guitar (S-style) and adding a bit of boost and/or overdrive to push the front end of the amp listening for the subtle nuances in tone and responsiveness. The desired achievement is to figure out which of these tubes will be optimal for this amp and especially how the different gain factors impact the way the amp responds to my playing. After this exercise I will go on a hunt for a tube of the preferred gain factor that will be most to my taste when it comes to character of tone.
