What is the property of identity? A definition of identity property is that the identity property states that a number, known as the identity, can be added to, subtracted from, multiplied by, or divided into a number without changing the number. The four basic properties used with numbers are commutative, associative, distributive, and identity. Inverse property of addition tells us that any number + its opposite will = 0. Opposite numbers have different signs (so on opposites sides of 0), but are the same distance from zero. What is Additive Identity? Additive identity is the value when added to a number, results in the original number. What is Additive Inverse? Additive inverse simply means changing the sign of the number and adding it to the original number to get an answer equal to 0. What is Multiplicative Identity? Multiplicative identity says that whenever a number is multiplied by the number 1. It will give that number as a product. What is Multiplicative Inverse?
