Watch the second part of a full journey compilation on board 56881 Katpadi - Villupuram Passenger on its last before run behind a diesel locomotive. This part begins with the crossing with 56882 Villupuram - Tirupati Passenger at Agaram Sibbandi. It also features the Tondiarpet Alco passing through various towns and villages on the Katpadi - Villupuram Line including the pilgrimage towns Tiruvannamalai and Tirukkovilur, all in daylight. The Villupuram - Katpadi Line is a Fully Electrified Single Line (FESL). But since 56881 shares its loco with the Villupuram - Mayiladuthurai Passenger trains, it had a diesel link all these days. Recently Southern Railway decided to operate the Villupuram - Mayiladuthurai Pax shuttles on Electric traction after the CRS Inspection with an electric locomotive was found to be satisfactory. Accordingly 56873, 56874, 56875, 56876, 56877, 56878 are hauled by an electric locomotive since March 01, 2020. This obviously meant that 56881/86 Katpadi - Villupuram - Katpadi Passenger would also run on electric traction. Presenting to you here is the penultimate diesel run as captured on February 28, 2020. 56881 Katpadi - Villupuram Passenger is a passenger train in Indian Railways which is operated by the Tiruchchirappalli Division of Southern Railway using a rake having a mix of conventional ICF coaches and Utkrisht coaches.
