The day started off with so much promise. We woke up early and were quickly on our way, the kids buzzing with excitement and even skipping breakfast. After walking for a couple of hours, we finally stopped for a meal. Today's plan is flexible. I've booked two albergues, one 9km away and the other 19km away. We'll decide as we go, which feels like the safest option for the day. The early morning walk was enchanting: quiet, a bit gloomy, with the air crisp and refreshing. Walking along the waterfront, we enjoyed stunning views and a gentle ocean breeze, with a light rain that was more refreshing than bothersome. The kids had a blast running from the waves on the sand, declaring it the most fun day yet! After about 8km, Ivan began to experience pain in his right foot, making it difficult for him to walk. Fortunately, we were nearing the town of Vila do Conde. After a quick coffee and snack, we headed straight to the hospital to check on his foot. Ignoring health issues on the Camino isn't wise, as it could worsen and jeopardize the entire journey. 3 hours at the hospital, we left with a prescription for anti-inflammatories and green light to keep walking. Since it was already 4 pm, we chose to stay in Vila do Conde. This turned out to be a great decision as the albergue was amazing. Settled in, we grabbed some frozen lasagna for dinner from a grocery store, took showers, and relaxed in the lounge area. 00:00 into 00:17 Day 2.
