World premiere in Montreal, Summer 2021, THE INFINITE is an unforgettable journey into space where several mediums (virtual reality, augmented reality and projections) collide with exceptional realism in an immersive experience unlike any other. The first-ever multisensory and interactive virtual reality experience to transport visitors aboard the International Space Station (ISS), as if you were there. As we are about to celebrate 20 years of continuous human presence in space, Felix & Paul Studios partnered with TIME, NASA and the ISS National Lab to film more than 250 hours of immersive 3D-360° footage aboard the ISS and more than 16 hours of exclusive Astronaut Logs interviews. This footage is the basis of an immersive multiplatform story called Space Explorers: The ISS Experience, the biggest media project ever produced in space. We have followed the lives of 8 astronauts aboard the ISS and captured the harsh process of adaptation to life in space, the scope of their scientific work, and the complex operations needed to maintain the station, paving the way for the future of human spaceflight. Through their logs, astronauts opened up an intimate window into their thoughts, personal experience and imagination, sharing their newfound perspective on humanity opened up by the “Overview Effect” and their insights on the purpose of space exploration. Making this documentation accessible brings these moments back down to earth and gives visitors an opportunity to bear witness to the developments being made on the station first-hand. In doing so, THE INFINITE provides an avenue for visitors to reflect on humanity’s place among the stars, and live in this moment together. As humanity develops the tools to create a sharper image of the cosmos, so to have those tools and technologies affected artists and their techniques. This progress is not limited to improving the fidelity of our representations, the tools we have, shaping our relationship to space, our imagination of the vastness beyond our planet. – INFINITY Experiences is a joint venture between PHI Studio and Felix & Paul Studios founded in April 2020 to create, produce and distribute large-scale immersive projects including the travelling exhibition THE INFINITE who is the first-ever multisensory and interactive virtual reality experience to transport visitors aboard the International Space Station.
