Medieval and Fantasy Music For Our Times - reviewed as "transcendent medieval-inspired music", "an alternate world of mystery and archaic beauty" - some of what the reviewers have said. This piece is a stunning Medieval English Prayer for Salvation from Plague, set to spine-tingling new choral music by David Yardley. Taken from the new album of David Yardley's compositions, titled The Lost Codex of Avalon Volume II. Order the new album at DavidYardleyMusic.com. Inspired by lifelong immersion in authentic medieval sound, my new musical works conjure lost music of the mythic isle of Avalon, from Arthurian legend. The Lost Codex of Avalon Volume II is a unique medieval and fantasy collaboration between composer, countertenor and medieval harpist David Yardley with some of the finest professional musicians, including Australian groups The Song Company (@SongComp) the Sydney Chamber Choir (@SydneyChamberChoir) Pastance, joined by renowned medieval New York-based ensemble Concordian Dawn under the direction of Christopher Preston Thompson. On th album, you'll hear my music written to long-forgotten medieval sacred and secular words, including a number of lost medieval English Christmas carols. You'll also hear my musical settings of evocative fantasy and Celtic poetry, including Anne Casey's award-winning poems "Season of Brigid" and "Season of Samhain". Anyone who loves outstanding choral music, harps, bards, troubadours, or medieval and fantasy worlds will enjoy these new works. Please join me in "a musical realm... [of] pure beauty" as we unearth The Lost Codex of Avalon Volume II. Track features New York professional medieval ensemble Concordian Dawn. Other pieces on the album include: Medieval Icelandic text honouring St Olaf, "Sancte Martyr Domini Olave" Gothic poetry by Clark Ashton Smith "The Mask of Mystery" Medieval English Bible text of John Wyclif "Psalm 33: Ye Just Men Have Fulli Joye In The Lord" Order the album, find free sheet music, other recordings, or get in touch with me and join the mailing list at DavidYardleyMusic.com.
