Before boarding, we explore Manaus during the Amazonian Cinema Festival, wander through the local markets, taste fresh Brazil nuts, enjoy the city’s nightlife, and take a short speedboat ride across the river to watch the dolphins. Then it’s time to load up and head out. Hammocks, cabins, floating petrol stations, tropical storms, and hawkers selling food on long sticks — this ferry is a world of its own. For two days we drift downstream with the Amazon, watching the rainforest, ranches, and small river communities pass by. It’s peaceful, surprising, and unforgettable.
