I spoke with Mary Hollis Inboden who stars as “Aunt Jody” on the funny ABC comedy The Real O’Neals (Tuesdays at 9:30PM) where we talked about S2 plus size fashion show, inclusion and sang “I’m coming out” to celebrate I’m Coming Out Day. I’m very excited about this return of the hilarious series that is a slice of life for a loving Catholic family in Chicago navigating accepting their gay son. When the series premiered last year on ABC it was groundbreaking to tell the story of a kid coming out to his conservative family. What could have been a heavy slog instead was so adeptly written that the heaviest subject matter would get you laughing and than thinking. I had the opportunity to speak with the cast and executive producers at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. We talked about how the series allowed people to get to know a gay kid, how it touches the lives of LGBT kids and adults and working on the ABC comedy.
