With a clock speed upto 4.1GHz, this 8-core, 16 thread chip not only excels in productivity tasks, such as editing and streaming, but also in gaming, where many titles prefer 1 or 2 fast cores. For the CPU cooler in this build I selected the Thermaltake Floe Riing 280mm. A great looking all in one, watercooling unit, it features 3 RGB zones, quiet and efficient cooling performance and a good value price tag. For the motherboard in this $2000 Gaming PC I selected ASUS’ brand new Crosshair Vii Hero motherboard. Boasting the Am4 socket, a built in IO shield, superb overclocking performance on the top end X470 chipset, and four on board RGB headers, it’s certainly pricey but covers all bases! For the RAM in this build I picked up 16GB of Adata’s Spectrix D80. This new DDR4 kit is watercooled (!) and takes advtange of phase change cooling, in order to add further overclocking headroom! It also features addressable RGB, an aluminium red heat spreader and great design! For the SSD storage in this build I elected to go for the Kingston Hyper X Savage. This 480GB SATA SSD works really well, giving a fast windows, boot up drive and enough storage for your most important files and favourite games. For the mass storage here I chose a 2TB hard drive from Seagate. This 2000GB drive gives enough room for large Steam and Origin game libraries, all in the standard 3.5” form factor, and 7200RPM speeds. For the graphics card in this gaming & editing build I chose the ASUS ROG Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070. With 8GB of VRAM, a great looking, triple fan STRIX cooler and RGB implementation it’s a perfect fit! For those looking for a bit more gaming horsepower, the GTX 1070Ti and 1080 will work as good upgrades. For the case choice I chose the Thermaltake View 71. This ATX full tower chassis comes equipped with 140mm RGB fans and tempered glass side panels on pretty much all sides of the case. Top tip here, don’t carry this up stairs: it ends badly. For the final part in this build, the power supply I chose Thermaltake’s Toughpower Grand 850W… because RGB! With a 16.8million color RGB fan up top, semi-fanless design and fully modular interface it’s practical, and not just a pretty face! Overall this makes for a superb Editing & Gaming PC for 2018!
