Mercedes-Benz continues to set the benchmark for electric vehicle engineering with its groundbreaking developments in the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) models. These compact-class vehicles incorporate advanced technologies that merge efficiency, performance, and safety, establishing a new standard in electric mobility. A Leap in Electric Drive Technology At the heart of this new wave of Mercedes-Benz vehicles lies the Electric Drive Unit 2.0, representing years of meticulous development. Inspired by the cutting-edge VISION EQXX concept, this drivetrain utilizes an 800-volt system and silicon carbide inverter technology, delivering exceptional performance. A 200-kilowatt permanently excited synchronous motor is mounted on the rear axle, designed entirely in-house by Mercedes-Benz engineers. Meanwhile, for models with all-wheel drive, an additional 80-kilowatt motor is positioned on the front axle, also utilizing silicon carbide inverter technology for superior energy efficiency. Together, these innovations ensure a seamless balance between power and sustainability. Efficiency that Redefines Expectations Mercedes-Benz has emphasized efficiency with impressive results. As demonstrated in the Concept CLA Class, the drivetrain aims for a Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) range exceeding 750 kilometers. Remarkably, its battery-to-wheel efficiency reaches 93 percent during long-distance travel, ensuring outstanding performance in real-world conditions. Additionally, a two-speed gearbox on the rear axle enhances not only energy efficiency but also dynamic driving, offering a thrilling yet economical experience. Faster, Smarter Charging For the first time, Mercedes-Benz integrates an 800-volt electric architecture, enabling high-power direct current charging of up to 320 kilowatts. This capability translates to an impressive range of approximately 300 kilometers after a quick charging session, redefining convenience for electric vehicle owners. With this infrastructure, long journeys become significantly more practical and efficient. Advanced Battery Design for Performance and Safety Mercedes-Benz offers two distinct battery configurations for the MMA lineup, catering to diverse customer needs.
