March on Our Off-Grid Homestead in the Norwegian Forest | Daily Life with Animals, Pruning Fruit Trees & Chaga Foraging It’s March, and spring is slowly arriving at our off-grid homestead in the forest of Norway. In this video, we share daily life on our small farm with Mangalitsa woolly pigs, sheep, chickens, and ducks. The sun has finally returned, but it’s still cold in the shadows, with frost at night. Now that the harshest winter cold has passed, we start pruning our fruit trees. We’d love to hear from you — when do you prune your fruit trees? Later, I head out into the forest to forage for Chaga mushroom growing on birch trees and make Chaga tea. Its dark, coffee-like appearance surprises me. At home, it’s time for spring cleaning, and my husband prepares a traditional Danish dish for the occasion: Skidne æg — eggs in mustard sauce served on rye bread. We enjoy this meal together with a good friend. Join us for everyday life on our Norwegian off-grid homestead in the spring — living close to nature with animals, simple routines, and seasonal tasks.
