🔥 The world of sports is full of historical controversial situations. 📺 Situations which changed the direction of whole matches and even whole tournaments. Invisible goals, too visible goals, points that should have never existed. That's why sports started using 💻 the new technologies in order to make the decision process by the referees more just. Or at least tried to do it. We have video review in many sports - hockey, basketball, American football, we have the Hawk Eye in tennis, we have the controversial 🎥 Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in football. 📽 Video Challenge or Video Check 🔍 system has been implemented in 🏐 volleyball in 2013 and since then became a regular part of the sport. But was there a specific reason for this to happen? A specific match, specific point? In this video we are trying to answer this question. Find out which is the moment that changed the volleyball game forever! According to the Laws of the Game the definition of a goal is when "the whole of the ball passes over the goal line". English supporters cited the good position of the linesman and the statement of Roger Hunt, the nearest England player to the ball, who claimed it was a goal and that was why he wheeled away in celebration rather than attempting to tap the rebounding ball in. Modern studies using film analysis and computer simulation have shown that the whole ball never crossed the line. USSR - USA 1972 Olympics Basketball Final The 1972 Olympic men's basketball final was one of the most controversial events in Olympic history and was recorded by FIBA as the first ever loss for Team USA since the sport began Olympic play at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The United States team had won the previous seven gold medals at the Olympics, and was favored to win another in Munich at the 1972 Summer Olympics. The team convincingly won its first eight games of the tournament, putting its overall Olympic record at 63–0 and setting up a final against the Soviet Union. In the Olympic final, the Americans thought they had won the gold medal, 50-49, after two foul shots by Doug Collins with three seconds left. The Soviets’ inbounds pass was deflected, and time ran out. But Jones bolted out of the stands, ran onto the court and ordered three seconds to be put on the clock. Argentina - England 1/4-Final World Cup 1986 Football - Maradona's Hand of God "The hand of God" is a phrase used by Argentine footballer Diego Maradona to describe an association football goal he scored in a quarter-final match between Argentina and England during the 1986 FIFA World Cup. The goal took place on June 22, 1986, at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. Under association football rules, Maradona should have received a yellow card for a clear "handball" incident and the goal disallowed. However, as the referees did not have a clear view of the play and video assistant referee technology did not yet exist, the goal stood and Argentina led 1-0. The game ended with a 2–1 win for the Argentines, thanks to a second goal scored by Maradona, known as the "Goal of the Century". After the match, Diego Maradona stated that the goal was scored "a little with his head, and a little with the hand of God". 1998 NBA Final - Chicago Bulls - UTAH Jazz - Michael Jordan's foul (Last Dance) Russell is best remembered for guarding Michael Jordan at the end of Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals. Jordan made the game-winning shot over Russell, although many fans believe Jordan pushed off Russell during the play. The referees did not call a foul on the play, and Russell later remarked, "Whether he pushed off or not, he was making that shot." He and Jordan were teammates when they played for the Washington Wizards during the 2002–03 NBA season, which was Jordan's last. #videochallenge #controversy
