I Made A 1950s Hat // DIY Ribbon Flower Wire Hat

W H A T ' S I N T H I S V I D E O ? In this video, I’m try my hand at hat making and walk you through the process of creating a vintage-inspired 1950s wire frame floral hat from scratch. Included is the entire process, from constructing the wire base to making all the flowers from scratch using ribbons. As this is my first time making a hat by hand, I figure things out as I go. This project definitely took longer than expected (turns out ribbon flowers use way more ribbon than you think), but I love how it came together. My inspiration was the flower crown style hats that were popular in the 1950s, especially by designers like Dior, that were absolutely covered in flowers. I’ve linked all the tutorials I used below, because credit where it’s due, and hopefully this gives you some inspiration if you’re curious about millinery, vintage accessories, or just enjoy watching vintage-inspired creative projects come to life!
