YouTube doesn't send me any notifications so apologies if I miss comments here. I made a mistake at the start of the video describing the best HOB filter featured on this channel - it should have been All Pond Solutions, not Aqua One - link below This video was filmed months ago when I was battling a busted neck (after a serious bike crash) and constant pain - apologies for taking so long to upload it. Thanks to Ivor for sending me the filter. This filter is a decent price and has a reasonable set up direct from the manufacturer. However, it can easily be altered to make it more efficient. Filter media, foams etc. http://www.filterpro.co.uk Hygger hang on back filter 6w (Amazon): https://geni.us/PQRpwu Video I did on the All Pond Solutions HOB-500: • Pimp My Filter #27 - All Pond Solutions HO... HOB-500 on Amazon: https://geni.us/Q4AI37t The Hygger HOB filter featured in this video easily holds 500g of Biogravel and could hold more if the amount of foams were reduced in the filter (when you use the big foam on the intake). Therefore if the goal is to achieve a full cycle (natural reduction in nitrate through beneficial bacterial action) for a normally stocked tank this filter would be suitable for up to 50 litres (13 US gallons) and for a heavily stocked tank of up to 25 litres (6.5 US gallons). If you're happy to do larger, more regular water changes (to reduce nitrate) then it could be used on larger tanks to keep ammonia and nitrite at zero (which is easy to do). As long as you use a normal water dechlorinator (e.g. API Stress Coat) which simply makes water safe for life and not a water conditioner which actively starves bacteria by locking up the food it needs (e.g. Seachem Prime) then you can achieve a full cycle in any tank with the correct filtration. My website has a nation of useful information including answers to specific questions to bring clarity to much of the online nonsense and fake 'science' about filtration here: https://filterpro.co.uk/qa-24-w.asp Thanks for reading / watching.
