Tribute to the magnificent a much loved Asiatic lions - Iblis Kiburi And Kumari at the world class Chester Zoo , UK Elderly lion Iblis sadly died at the incredible age of 18 years old in September 2025 his death followed the death of his companion lionesses Kiburi who died also age 18 years in June 2025 and her sister Kumari , who died 17th October 2024 aged 17 years All three Asiatic lions lived to an incredible old age, that far exceeded the average age of 12 for wild Asiatic lions and is a testament to the dedication and care the animals receive at Chester Zoo and the work the top rated UK zoo does for conservation of endangered species The Asiatic lion is critically endangered with only an estimated 900 left living in the wild. Asiatic Lions at Chester Zoo Lion sisters Kumari and Kiburi arrived at Chester Zoo in 2011 and lived alongside male Lion Iblis in a new specially designed 4790 sq m habitat built in 2019 to recreate the India savannah scrublands of the Gir Forest This Video features the magnificent Male Lion Idris and Female Lionesses Kumari and Kiburi recorded back in 2021 in their newly build Habitat designed to recreate their natural habitat of the Gir Forest In India.
