Story: https://www.overdriveonline.com/custo... In the 2025 Big Rig Build-Off at the Mid-America Trucking Show, 4 State Trucks owner Bryan Martin’s 1987 Peterbilt 359 stood out -- not just for its clean lines and vibrant paint, but for the craftsmanship and purpose behind every detail. Built by Davis Brothers Designs out of Owensville, Indiana, this wasn’t just another showpiece -- it was Bryan’s personal truck. Martin bought the 359 when he was 24 years old. After years of dreaming, he finally handed it off to Davis Brothers to bring his vision to life in their first-ever full frame-off 359 build. The team leaned heavily into what they’re best known for: immaculate paint and bodywork. Working from Bryan’s color ideas, they blended two shades of blue across the truck with stripes designed to subtly hide the truck’s louvered hood. All the stripes on the Pete continue in places you can’t normally see, such as the inside of the air cleaner brackets. Under the hood, the truck’s Cat 3406B engine -- rebuilt about 12 years ago -- got a fresh coat of Cat Yellow and a host of polished details, from the valve covers to custom-fabricated stainless parts like the wrapped harmonic balancer. Even the hose clamps in the engine bay were polished, showcasing the team’s commitment to the smallest elements. Instead of chasing chrome, the team opted for polished aluminum in many areas to reflect the period-correct style of the late ’80s. Inside, the truck kept its old-school feel with a stock-style interior reupholstered by Two Bees in Oregon, complete with tight-loop period-correct carpet and a refreshed original steering wheel. Subtle customizations -- like swapping mirror arms for a sleeker look, adding lollipop lights with blue dots, and polishing the pedal bases -- gave the truck a factory-plus finish. Pinstriping by Darin Bean tied the whole aesthetic together. This build wasn’t just about flash -- it was about honoring the truck’s history and the way things used to be done. In this video, Kevin Johnson from Davis Brothers walks us through the thoughtful craftsmanship that brought the "Bossman" Martin's rig to new life. Full results from the MATS Paul K.
