Beneath the Baltic Fleet pub, smugglers’ tunnels once hid stolen treasure linked to the infamous Guinea Gap hoard. During the May Blitz of 1941, bombs exposed those tunnels… and a skeleton still clutching gold coins. Those coins were later matched to the Guinea Gap treasure. This song tells the story of the sailor who carried that gold. Murdered by a press gang. Sealed behind brick. And doomed to walk the tunnels forever. With a slow, ominous shanty rhythm and ghostly dockside imagery, this track is meant to sound like something sung by sailors who know they’re already cursed. Some men sail. Some men stay.
