For this reason, and because USPS cares about protecting its own family, we want to remind owners to consider these preventive measures – to ensure the safety of their letter carrier – and their dog. ~ If a letter carrier delivers mail or packages to your front door, place your dog in a separate room and close that door before opening the front door. ~ When possible, restrain your dog with a leash to establish a safe and secure distance from the letter carrier. ~ When your children are at home with your dog, remind them not to take mail or packages directly from the letter carrier.
