India and Pakistan have shared a troubled history fraught with wars, yet they are the same- similar cultures, outfits, and most importantly taste in music. It is rightly said that music connects and heals, not only souls but countries altogether. Likewise, Sharmishtha Chatterjee, a trained Classical, Sufi, and Folk Singer, and famous playback Indian Singer found her fate when she was invited to lead an all-male Pakistani progressive rock outfit. In her TEDx talk, she shares her experience and explains how the origin of music has always been the same and speaks of acceptance, and love, transcending physical narrow boundaries that remain enshrined in the minds of people from both countries to this date. Sharmishta Chatterjee is the first Indian Vocalist to be featured in Coke Studio Pakistan with Mekaal Hasan Band, proving the stated belief to be true. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
