Glassblowing: LIVE GLASSBLOWING DEMONSTRATION

On the third Thursday of the month, local Richmond VA glass studio The Glass Spot opens its doors to the public to showcase hot glass to the community. The Glass Spot is where I started blowing glass immediately after graduating from VCU, and is where I've made almost all of my work up until recently. The Glass Spot feels like home to me and it is always a treat to work there. For the last Third Thursday event, I decided to assemble one of my tablet-style sculptures. This one was comprised of the profile of a woman's face, along with an antler crown and a mane of many individual parts and three ferns made by my wife Erin. We made all of the parts ahead of time at our home studio, and then brought the parts to The Glass Spot and assembled them for the crowd.
