Summerberry Spey Fly

In this video, our volunteer Fabio shows you how to tie the "Summerberry" Spey fly. This is an original fly from Oregon fly tyer and fly fisherman Joel LaFollette. It is named after a delicious berries pie. This fly is designed to be fished on the swing for steelhead using a sinking or full floating line. Cast the fly downstream at a 45-degree angle, let it sink, apply any mends as needed, and then let it swing across the river. Let it hang down for 30 seconds or so. Steelhead may follow the fly and decide to eat it on the dangle.
