A smooth late-night lounge cue with relaxed swing, warm electric piano, and understated glow, carrying calm confidence after dark. On this day in jazz history… Max Roach Born January 10, 1924 Born January 10 in Newland, North Carolina. His birth certificate lists January 10, though Roach told jazz historian Phil Schaap his family believed he was born on January 8. Roach became one of jazz's most important drummers and a bebop pioneer. Along with Kenny Clarke, he revolutionized jazz drumming by shifting timekeeping to the ride cymbal and using the bass drum for accents, defining the bebop style. He performed with giants including Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, and Bud Powell. In 1954, Roach co-led an influential quintet with trumpeter Clifford Brown that ran until Brown's tragic death in a 1956 car accident. In 1952, he co-founded Debut Records with Charles Mingus, one of the first artist-owned jazz labels. Died August 16, 2007, New York City. #LateNightJazz #60sLounge #LoungeJazz #JazzGroove #InstrumentalJazz #AfterHoursJazz #vegasjazz All music (including AI-assisted elements) and visuals are original, curated, and produced by Two Cats Jazz Radio.
