In a major development, self-proclaimed godman Mallikarjun Mutya has been arrested in connection with a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.According to police sources, Mallikarjun Mutya, associated with the Mahal Roja Matha, had been absconding since February 25 after allegations surfaced in a POCSO case. The accused reportedly appeared before the police late last night and was taken into custody by the Gogi Police Station officials in Shahapur.Following his appearance, police conducted a medical examination as part of the legal procedure. After completing the formalities, the accused was produced before the court, which ordered judicial custody in connection with the POCSO case.The arrest has created a strong reaction in the region, as Mallikarjun Mutya was known among followers as a spiritual leader.
